I think its Puppy season

Its been a crazy week at work ... slow slow slow with a few burst of craziness lol .. i do have to state that I think its puppy season .. due to the large number of Female pregnant dogs that came into the ER contracting .. the first pup was cool .. i was like omg can I hear the puppies heart beat and feel them in her stomach ... lol .. the answer is no you cant hear the hearts with just a stethacope haha but you can totally feel them .. then we have to set up a little cage depending on the size of the dog with lots of towels and then cover the cage to let her do what she has to do ... it was all awwww sooo cute .. till ewwww her water broke and then she had one pup .. after that it went all down hill for me ... i was like i will sooo passssssssss watching the joy of disgusting birth BLAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH .. so yeah the first dog great awww the next 8 dogs that came in during the week was like shit where do you want her .. lol!! I deicided not to post the pics I took because umm well they were sort of gross and I will spare you all the bloodyness of puppy birth!!

House Fire Victim

She was in her cage during a fire and she came in 3 weeks ago after the fire for smoke ventelation but after a week of noticing she was acting funny she was brought back to the ICU and the doctors noticed she was cooking from the inside out. She has some burns on her body that they addressed at the time but for some reason dogs over heat fast and that is what happened. They never cold her down they just treated her wounds and breathing at the time. So They had to take away the cooked dead skin and then fix her up.... I was with her when she went under and then when she woke up after surgery. It was sooooo cool and she is such a sweet dog!! Her owners are lucky to have her and to have saved her!

I had to gurney her outside and also muzzle her because she was in pain and hurting so it was mostly for my safety but other than that she was such a sweet heart and also my dog of the week!!

You know every night when I am in the ICU i think of all the losses and all the sad owner and the crazy emergences we have to deal with but at the end of the day we always have one patient who I can look at, smile and say its all worth it!! I think when I cant find that anymore I am done but as look as I can smile and say its all worth it even if it was just one life I got to help or save then I am happy at this job!!

BIG ASS DOG

OMG this huge horse of a dog thats weight was 129.4 came in last night because it ate a toy ... so we induced vomiting and no toy came out just like 15 cups of undigested food .. gross ... ok now let me tell you a little about this breed .... at first i thought it was a bull mastiff ... hahahaha nope ... i was wrong ... its called a Perro de Presa Canario or Dogo Canario



The Canary Dog ancestry probably includes the now extinct naive and indigenous Bardino Majero, crossed with imported English Mastiffs. It was developed in the Canary Islands in the 1800's specifically for dog fighting. At one time dog fighting was a common and popular entertainment in most European countries, and breeds were developed specially for their tenacity and endurance. In some countries, such as Ireland, fights were staged in open fields, but more often, as was the case in the Canary Islands, fighting took place in rings or pits.The Canary Dog requires a very dominant, experienced owner who understands the alpha nature in canines. The Canary Dog must know that his master is in control of him. No member of the family can be uncomfortable around the dog. Canaries make outstanding guard dogs. Their appearance is a deterrent not to mention their ability to confront any intruder. In the wrong hands this dog can be dangerous, but with the right owner it can make a nice, devoted companion. This is not a breed for first time dog owners. It is a very aggressive natured dog.

Ok so i find out what kind of dog it is and also sense the nervousness in all the tech ... so then i got nervous ... then every time the dog would look at the tech she would look away ... then she told me you can never look this dog in the eyes .. you can never dominate them unless you are its owner .. ummmm yeah while im petting it, holding it , restraining it , and also drawing blood from it with no muzzle on ... wtf is right ... soooooooo no toy came up in the vomit now its x-ray time .. i grabbed a mussel just in cause because i feel unsure now knowing what I knew about it .. dude when i tell you i put the mussel on and then put it on the xray machine the fucker ass dog flipped out .. it took 6 of us to hold this fucker down .. it was crazy ... then after all the struggling I noticed the mussel slipped off .. i was like ohhhhhh my god the tech next to me was like ummmmm ... yeah it was scary ... then I clocked out .... ohhh i forgot the best part ... when we went to lift this horse up it shit all over us ... yeah ... it was bad .... damn dog .. why the hell would you own a dog like that ?!?!

The good and the bad of work!

Ok so its no secret that I am working at an Emergency Vet in the ICU as a Vet Tech Assistant...i love and hate the jobs .. its much different from the film industry but somewhat more interesting to me... but with all jobs come good and bad...I have to tell you what happened .. im all wound up and cant sleep .. i went for a bike ride and all and nothing worked... tomorrow i am gonna buy a journal and write it in every night to vent about the crazy nights I have!!

First off I am sort of mad that for the second day in a row i am the only vet tech assistant in the ICU .. no correction in the entire facility on my shift.. ugh .. they wanna cut back on people and save an extra 15.00 but i can not do it alone its to much work and to much of a responsibility i dont want and I will tel you why when i tell you what happened and how careless some TECHS are .. after i state tomorrow I am gonna ask for more money , or one more person to help , or i am gonna give my two weeks because you need two people from at least 7pm - midnight for sure its toooo much !!!

Ok so first off one of my jobs is to walk the dogs ... its all good but it takes time to cap all the fluids and blah blah blah its not just take them out of the cage and walk them no its more than that and sometimes dogs need slings and big dogs need two people omg its crazy sometimes but ok so one of my jobs is to do that.. ok so i had like 15 dogs to walk so i start around 9pm at one end of the ICU to another ... after about the 8th dog I passed this one old dog bc this pup nest to him looked like it needed to pee so i tell the older "ill be back right back for you" ... No lie im walking into the ICU and notice the dog up against the cage i walk closer and and say ... ummm i dont think this dog is breathing ... the doctor yelled wtf....came over started CPR and all that jazz on the dog ... the entire time the doc kept saying good call chrissie good eyes good watching over the animals .. i said she was just breathing it just happened ... omg no lie in a matter of seconds this dog was dead... we did everything we could to help this dog but nothing worked we lost the dog ... now ask me why we lost the dog ... because we were so busy no one had time to put this dog on fluids or give it the blood it needed. Yes it came in for a blood transfusion ... So it was our fault and why was it our fault because they decided to cut the staff including the other assistant who should be working with me!!

My night still hasnt ended ... so im in the back getting some things for the ICU when I get a call over the PA Assistant with a gurney needed STAT ... i haul ass up front with a gurney to find a huge dog having trouble breathing ...the owners are an older lady and a boy who was my age...the dog had a narrow throat and well it ate the other dogs dry food and the food blocked its airway... ok so after 2 hrs if suction and other gross shit we got all the food out and we save this dogs life. All turned out ok for that family and of course they wanted to see the dog so the doc brought them into the ICU and the boy said hi to the dog and turned to all of us in the ICU thanking us for our help...then he looked at me and the VET TECH who went out to get the dog and said

"because of you guys you saved her life .. you save animals... you give them those second chances they sometimes need ... you dont just save animals you save lives ... that is a thank you all in itself ..."

OMG I was like omg this dude is sooo right .. i never thought of it that way ... so we lost a life because we were careless but saved another because its our job... its a win lose situation here! Some techs are mean to the animals ... I have a gentle hand ... some yell at the i pet them and talk to them ... some dont care to change the bedding if they weeeeweeeee but i will! ... they say its because i am new and they have been doing this for years ... i say its because i would want someone to give my animal the same treatment they would want to get if it were them.

I dont know I guess what that kid said just touched me because this dog was not only a dog to him it was a family member. For the first time I let my emotions take over and get the best of me bagging the dead dog but also making sure the one we saved was comfortable .... Its moments like these that make me love this job .. but its moments of losing an animal or a careless owner or careless tech that makes me HATE this job!

Either way I just cant win!!!!!

Work Update =)

Ok so update on the job drama ... the 24hr vet sucks ass but for 15.00 an hr I need to suck it up for a few months to learn things and also get ahead with my bills then seeeeee ya later shit hole...ps when i say its a shit hole i mean it .. it sooo crazy how they treat the animals and care for the and the people are sooooo uptight and negative noooo lie when I say shit hole...ohhh and i forgot to mention my hrs are 7pm -2am .. yeah night shift all the way but its all good .. hanging in there is all i can do for a few months .... now on a positive note the second job .. day job the hometown vet right down the street from me is a job i love love love... my first day (working interview) was soooo amazing and the people they are soo interesting and soooo much fun to work with.. i can truly say am gonna love working there .. gonna find out on Thursday if I have the job or not ... keep your fingers crossed people =)!!!

NEW JOB =)

Ok so i have been thinking and thinking and thinking the past few months about the film industry and what I wanted to do other than that ... i have come to the conclusion that the answer is nothing because i love the industry, but I am tired of the long hours, the drives to MIAMI, the travel / living out of a suitcase and the stress from people .... sooooooo i have been on the hunt for a job.. something I think I am not only gonna enjoy but that will also pay the bills =)! After a few months of looking I think I have found something. I applied to a few vet hospitals just because I think I can relate to the people and animals well ... soooo i did that and whooohoohoooo got a call back for a formal interview on Friday from 8am -10am ... im sooo stoked and yeah ok its gonna be less than what I make in film, totally different from the industry, steady and i think its gonna be a fun job... plus no lie its right down the street from me ... 2.7 miles away hahahaha how awsome is that =) !!

Ok so last night was the first time I got to see Danit is yearsssssssssss ahhhh its been tooo long .. but what I love the most about this girl is no matter how long its been we always seem to pick up right where we left off!!! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE IT!!!! And its always such a goooooooooooooooooood time!! I miss it but lol i will take what I can get with this busy bee =)!!

The World is an archipelago of artificial islands, shaped like the continents of the Earth, being constructed off the coast of Dubai. The project is inspired by the artificial Palm Islands also being built in Dubai. The World will consist of 250 to 300 smaller private artificial islands divided into four categories - private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. The entire project is slated for completion in 2008.

Each island ranges from 250,000 to 900,000 square feet (23 226m² to 83 613m²) in size, with 50 to 100 metres of water between each island. The development covers an area of 9 kilometers in length and 6 kilometers in width, surrounded by an oval breakwater. 2P Impossible Hotel: Ice Hotel

ICEHOTEL is situated in the village Jukkasjärvi, 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in Sweden. The heart and backbone is the River Torne flowing freely through the unspoilt wilderness. Covered with a meter thick ice layer winter time the river is the source of all our art, architecture and design. The pure water and the steady movement of the river creates the clearest ice possible.


3P The Burj Al Arab
Construction of Burj Al Arab began in 1994. It was built to resemble the sail of a dhow, a type of Arabian vessel. Two "wings" spread in a V to form a vast "mast", while the space between them is enclosed in a massive atrium. Architect Tom Wright said "The client wanted a building that would become an iconic or symbolic statement for Dubai; this is very similar to Sydney with its Opera House, or Paris with the Eiffel Tower. It needed to be a building that would become synonymous with the name of the country."
The architect and engineering consultant for the project was Atkins, the UK's largest multidisciplinary consultancy. The hotel cost $650 million to build.
Several features of the hotel required complex engineering feats to achieve. The hotel rests on an artificial island constructed 280 meters offshore. To secure a foundation, the builders drove 230 40-meter long concrete piles into the sand. The foundation is held in place not by bedrock, but by the friction of the sand and silt along the length of the piles.
Engineers created a surface layer of large rocks, which is circled with a concrete honey-comb pattern, which serves to protect the foundation from erosion. It took three years to reclaim the land from the sea, but less than three years to construct the building itself. The building contains over 70,000 cubic meters of concrete and 9,000 tons of steel. It is The world's tallest atrium!!!

During the construction phase, to lower the interior temperature, the building was cooled by one degree per day over 6 months. This was to prevent large amounts of "condensation or in fact even a rain cloud from forming in the hotel during the period of construction." This task was accomplished by several cold air nozzles, which point down from the top of the ceiling, and blast a 1 meter cold air pocket down the inside of the sail. This creates a buffer zone, which controls the interior temperature without massive energy costs. Burj Al Arab characterizes itself as the world's only "7-star" property, a designation considered by travel professionals to be hyperbole. All major travel guides and hotel rating systems have a 5-star maximum, which some hotels attempt to out-do by ascribing themselves "6-star" status. Yet according to the Burj Al Arab's official site, the hotel is a "5-star deluxe hotel". It is the world's tallest structure with a membrane façade and the world's tallest hotel (not including buildings with mixed use) and was the first 5-star hotel to surpass 1,000 ft (305 m) in height.
